Building Enterprise Change Capability

Challenge

A leading player in bio pharmaceuticals, this client has an ambitious and ongoing change agenda. With an overall aim to deliver manageable, sustainable change they recognised that this in itself was a change programme.

Solution

We embarked on a program to introduce change management methodology at project level and change management capability at enterprise level. At project level, we’re talking about the application of a standard to manage the people side of the change. At enterprise level we’re talking about a strategic capability / core competency.

With a team dedicated to the programme and methodology we started with a maturity assessment to establish a baseline. From there we developed a three-year ambition and a roadmap to get us there including leader sponsorship, standard application, socialisation and most significantly a capability roll out across the organisation from sponsor to shopfloor.

Key differentiators here are commitment from the top team who made this work a strategic objective, regularly reported on, a dedicated project team who want to do the right thing and do it right, and the complementary effort around portfolio management to ensure that change is mindful, manageable, and sustainable. In so doing they are increasing their probability of change success by managing the people side of change as effectively as they manage the technical side, and making this a standout competency across the business.
